I like these style of chevron,  the prop sets them apart somewhat from the standard style !

I don't believe these were ever authorized but obviously worn by the AAC and went away when they became the AAF.

Hope you don't mind me buttin' in. I have a pair of Master Sgt. Air Corps chevrons and also the khaki Private chevrons which you have, and a pair of unauthorized PFC chevrons with the rocker underneath, I'll add them if you'd like, as soon as I figure how to post pictures in here.

Howdy Ian, those are Unauthorized Specialist Chevrons. Took me awhile to get all of them together.
These unauthorized insignia were manufactured and worn between 1920 and 1942.
Individual Company and Regimental commanders approved them for local wear.
Pictured are some of the common specialty devices worn,
but they were also worn with no specialty devices at all.
The Specialist really wore the chevrons of the PFC, they drew the pay of a PFC
plus Specialist Pay in relationship to the level of expertise they possessed.
Specialists and their extra pay were real; the insignia above were dreamed up by manufacturers.
In 1942, the Technicians replaced the Specialists; for the time being ...
