Small grouping from a WW II/SF Vet
« on: May 29, 2020, 10:20:35 AM »
I met Harry Hall when he was a Gregg Co. Tx Deputy in the early 80s. He was a great guy and when he found out I collected "Army stuff" he gave me his SF patch and subdued Jump Wings and CIB. I assumed he was a Vietnam War vet but did not inquire as to his service (I was 18 and dumb).

Fast forward a few years, I ran into First Sgt Hall at a Memorial Day celebration. He was in uniform, starched khakis with bloused jump boots. His shirt was adorned with an SF patch on the left sleeve and a 4th ID combat patch. I asked then if he was in the 4th ID in Vietnam, he smiled and said no, he landed on Utah Beach during WW II. I was stunned, no idea he was that old. After WW II, he served in the Reserves and became SF qualified in the 50s. Hary retired after 32 years.

First Sgt Hall passed away in 2012. These items hold a special place in my collection.
