Anyone know where KIA docs can be found
« on: January 13, 2019, 07:14:33 PM »
Hey guys, trying to curb this itch I have been getting to collect the Kia or Mia documents from fallen US serviceman. I am trying to keep the memory alive by obtaining a few for research purposes. Been having such a hard time even finding them. Any help is appreciated.

HelmetguyCT,

One place to search for IDPFs (Individual Deceased Personnel File) is with the National Archives.. Keep in mind these requests for IDPFs take some, just like regular records.. It took about 4-5 months for me to get my relatives IDPF but it was very complete and told the details of my relatives death and other information...

Here is a tutorial about IDPFs from NARA.. It is a little dated because I believe now the Army records have been transferred to St. Louis..

Hope this helps in your search...

Leigh
