Spent the day with a USS Indianapolis Survivor
« on: December 10, 2018, 10:31:12 PM »
Today we hosted Richard Thelen at the museum and at our local High School. I was able to sit down with him and have lunch, and that is where many of the stories started to pour out. He talked about his experience both on the ship and in the water as well as the aftermath and the movies (which he hates).
To say it was a surreal experience would be an understatement, and it will be a day that I remember for a long time. He is the last Michigan survivor and one of only 14 left. At true national treasure. His motto as you might expect "never give up"      Scott
Always looking for 32nd Division items and 13th Armored Division items. Please keep me in mind if you have any.
