ATA Wings Bullion Privately Commissioned
« on: September 01, 2018, 04:24:07 PM »
During World War II the Air Transport Auxiliary pilots were issued the silk or rayon wings by the ATA itself for their service dress. Many of the pilots took the initiative to commission private entities to construct bullion wings of gold wire in configurations similar to the issue wings enough not to cause issues with higher rank and will. It's the bullion wings take several different forms and one must be careful regarding the number of counterfeits in the market simply because these wings are so rare. I want to share with you a beautiful set of ATA pilot wings privately commissioned by the pilot for wear on his or her best tunic. Enjoy!
