M1861 Springfield to a Michigan Soldier
« on: August 16, 2018, 03:03:20 PM »
This came in from the descendants of Pvt Couch Dorr who served in the 20th Michigan Volunteer Infantry and was wounded at Spotsylvania. It is dated 1864 and still has the original sling, bayonet and we received his powder flask. This is a beautiful piece and with fantastic provenance! Sorry for the single pic, I was getting tired.   Scott

Scott,

You are a militaria magnet.  Great item.

Scott,

Once again, I am very impressed. To have provenance to a person that carried this in battle is most impressive..

As a matter of fact yes! The last one we got in is still loaded and the round isn't coming out with a worm. We just oil the powder every few months.    Scott

Have you tried taking the nipple off and using compressed air?
