Nice WWI Brody to an 85th Div. Soldier
« on: August 16, 2018, 02:51:04 PM »
This wonderful Brody came in to the museum yesterday. It belonged to Carl Braun of HQ Company 330th Field Artillery, 85th Division. He was in the band and we received this from his Grandson. We will also be receiving a pickelhaube that Braun brought home. His Grandson came from Hawaii to deliver the Brody but didn't want to bring the German helmet on the plane, so he is going to ship it when he returns home.   Scott

A great addition and good to see it is a British made helmet, as so many of them were.
Regards,

Thanks Jerry and you are correct about the helmets being British made as the US didn't have any of their own in production early on. However, when they did, they were made right here in Jackson Mi by Withington-Sparks/Sparton Corporation. So, a great tie in for our museums Michigan focus.  Scott
