Mk II Flashed to the Free French...
« on: June 20, 2017, 05:21:25 AM »
I had known of the existence of this helmet for a number of years and it always intrigued me I was fortunate to be able to add it to my collection a few months back...It does show nice age and patina to the hand painted flashes on the side of the helmet body and has the remnants of a aged white and or yellow hand painted cross of Lorraine painted on the reverse of the helmet body just above the spot welds on the rim joint...
This war time Mk II was used by the Free French after there exodus from France and with the help of a few fellow collectors and friends the flashes were 100% identified as being used by the 1e Division France Libre (1st Free French Division ) who fought in North Africa,Italy and Southern France..

Regards Mark
