This early Hawley M1 is one of my favourite helmets. Overall, it's in near perfect, lightly used condition. As helmet collectors will know, the fragile nature of Hawley liners means that surviving examples in A+ condition are relatively scarce today. Fortunately, this is one of them! It's the third variant which features the standard cotton webbing suspension and removable leather chinstrap (with OD hardware) The M1 shell is a very low numbered production example, dating from '41. It has all of its original OD corked finish and the shorter webbing chinstraps with brass hardware of the type used on the M1917A1.
