I have recently got this patter 1940 battle dress with some insignia on it. Can anyone tell me something more about the upper badge? Thanks a lot.

Always looking for quality condition USAAF stationary, ephemera, equipment and clothing.
Starting to look for the harder to find items e.g. survival kits and items also woukd like to add a complete "Gibson Girl " set up

This patch is identified as British Troops in Palestine insignia. (Army Badges and Insignia since 1945 by Guido Rosignoli, plate 14) This is a post WW2 insignia for British Forces overseas..

I can't identify the colored checkerboard under the formation patch, but there is also a Parachute patch which may indicate this person was parachute qualified..

I am not very knowledgeable about British Battle Dress uniforms and insignia so I would wait for one of our British experts to confirm or deny my identification

A very interesting uniform to say the least

Okay, that makes sense. The lower badge is the Argyll and Sutherland Highlander's badge. They have been in Palestine in 1946. The jacket has been made in 1942...

Thank you for the quick answer... :)

the checkerboard patch is for one of the bn's of the Argyle and Sutherland highlanders, used wartime by A&SH or 402 light regiment RA (a&sh) T.A.and then post war by 54th (A&SH) LAA Regt RA (TA) or perhaps 91 Anti Tank Regt RA (formed from 5 A&SH) or 93 Anti Tank Regt RA (formed from 6 A&SH)

Jerry BB.
