181st Transportation Battalion Beer Stein
« on: April 03, 2017, 03:59:45 PM »
Here is a beer stein I picked up year ago at an estate sale. The 181st Transportation Battalion was stationed in Manheim, Germany across the river from my wife's home of Ludwigshafen. The classic lithopane of the nude girl etched into the bottom of the stein and when held up to the light can be seen. I will take some better pictures of this later on..

Nice one Smitty, it'd look good in my collection! ;D
The nude girl at the bottom, you see her in most Steins, if that was their trade mark back then?
Trying not to get off subject,  ;), I remember Mannheim having a US military prison, and/or Correctional Facility, the MP's probably have had beer Steins made too, be interesting to see.
Our Cadre would threaten us now and then if we didn't shape up they'd send us to Mannheim. ::)

Pat,

You are correct, I escorted my Platoon Sergeant under arms to Mannheim for him to start his 25 year prison term.. Was only there for a few weeks and then transferred back to the states to Leavenworth..
