Glamorgan Territorial Yeomanry titles on chain epaulettes
« on: December 22, 2016, 02:44:30 PM »
A recent pick up, original 1908-1920 white metal bandsmans shoulder titles still on their original chain epaulettes.  The regiment was in existence from  before 1900 but as a the Glamorgan imperial yeomanry up to 1908 when they became the Glamorgan Yeomanry Territorial Force and were later renamed again as the Glamorgan Yeomanry circa 1920.  The band was probably stood down during the war though often the band members became the stretcher bearers.

Nice photos.  Reminds me of the No.1 uniform we wore in 'D' Squadron, Royal Wessex Yeomanry........I like the link back to the old days of the Cavalry ie the chain-mail epaulettes, we also worn spurs and on occasion drew Sabres from the armoury.

Indeed tug, the Glamorgans wore the chains into the modern era on their blues to link with their yeomanry ancestry.

Before they became the Glamorgan Ty they were the Glamorgan Imperial Yeomanry.  I picked up this button yesterday in Cardiff.
