Very cool photo.  To tell you the truth I liked Ward Bond as an actor better than Clark Gable.  He was John Wayne's best friend  and they had known each other since youth.  I believe he and Wayne were even roommates at USC.  Here is a little known fact about Ward Bond, Of any other actor/actress Bond appears in the most films (7) of the American Film Institute's list of the 100 Greatest American Movies: It Happened One Night (1934), Bringing Up Baby (1938), Gone with the Wind (1939), The Grapes of Wrath (1940), The Maltese Falcon (1941), It's a Wonderful Life (1946) and The Searchers (1956).  He died of a heart attack at the young age of 57.

I remember him from when I was a boy as he was in "Wagon Train" which was shown on British tv, in the hey-days of tv "westerns". Those were the days!  ;)

those are all harleys. the tire size was 5:00 X 16:00. indians had a lot of different features which enabled an easy identification. one of the most obvious was the indians came with a right hand tank shift, while the harley had a left hand tank shift. there was a conversion kit available to make the indians shift on the left. the indian front end also looked quite different. the bike shown here, with me driving and dad in the sidecar, was a 1932 harley VL, with a 1926 sidecar. we restored them, and drove it for years.

i could go on at length about harleys, but it would bore everyone to tears, so i won't. suffice to say dad and i rode bikes together for over 30 years, and have a mountain of pics. this is the one i was driving before and after viet nam. it's a 1964 duo glide.

Here's me on a fully restored 1942 WLA Harley at the 2003 Celebrate Freedom Airshow in Camden, SC -  my good friend & fellow 82d Airborne Division Museum Living History Detachment David Thomas maintains this bike as a MP in the 82d ABN DIV in WWII
