I came upon this interesting sequence of photos on the interweb. It shows a dummy British A13 Cruiser tank being erected in Northern France in 1940 (according to the caption) Later in the war, inflatable dummy tanks were widely used to deceive the Germans during Operation Fortitude in the pre D-Day build up.

Good stuff, I always like the decoy work of the allied army before d-day.
