Partisan,

This is a beautiful helmet, I do know about commonwealth helmets but I am sure our English friends will be able to give more information..

This is a wonderful first post.. Looking forward to seeing more great items from you.. Thank you very much for sharing with us..

Interesting to see a colonial manufactured version of the "Brodie" helmet....an early war production date too.

Unusual to see and very desirable. Not seen a 40 dated tropical helmet before.
Very nice

A fine SA mkii.  they were produced in green then painted in the field.  Nice to see it still has its original liner.  There should be a date stamp on the shell as well as the one you show on the liner.

Jerry BB.

A splendid one, indeed ! I take this opportunity to ask a few questions about tropical MK2 to my fellow British and Commonwealth collectors...

First, during the desert war, what kind of helmets were used ? More precisely, did these helmets all had a factory applied sand finish, or were there also overpainted khaki ones, like Germans and Italians did ?
Second, what kind of helmets the 8th Army used ? Were they all SA made, or other countries also made some ?
Then, did anybody ever saw the neck cover intended to be used with the back holes ? I never saw one, even not any pic of it...

Here's mine, a well worn one, but quite interesting I think, and really hard to find from this side of the Channel... however, I don't know where it has been made. Who could tell me more ?
