Joel Haliwell's VC story
« on: April 06, 2014, 11:39:09 PM »
I don't mind admitting that I had tears in my eyes when I viewed this yesterday. The BBC's "Antiques Roadshow" is running a two-part special with a WW1 theme as a part of the national commemorations of the outbreak of that "War to end all wars".  Each of the items featured tells a poignant story...none more so that this. Please view the clip.

You will doubtless have noticed that the militaria / firearms expert, Bill Harriman, could barely contain his own emotions during the presentation!

BTW... on the right hand side of the AR homepage there are several other clips with a WW1 theme which you can view.

Having just watched that clip ,I defy anyone not to have a tear in their eye or a lump in their throat !! :'(

A very moving story indeed

This surely must be one reason why we all collect what we do , to honor and preserve the memory of all those that gave their life in all conflicts to preserve our freedom

RIP  the Haliwell brothers
