WW2 US Army "K" Ration dinner unit
« on: May 25, 2016, 11:32:23 AM »
It's remarkable what one comes across in local antiques centres from time to time. Here we have an unopened WW2 "K-rat" pack...actually a dinner unit. The waxed carton containing the goodies is still sealed...I bet the contents are really well preserved, if not still edible!! The outer cardboard sleeve is a little the worse for wear but essentially intact. It'll go into one of my WW2 musette bags which contains a set of original individual GI kit which I've gathered together from various sources over the years.

Here's an official Signal Corps picture from WW2 illustrating the Dinner Unit's contents. You'll note that this has the later packaging with the printed camo pattern.
