WW1 78th Division WIA dog tag
« on: April 20, 2016, 07:17:40 AM »
Thought I'd post another tag from the collection for you fine folks. This one has been in my collection for a few years now, and just last week came to find that not only was he wounded in action (gassed), this tag actually returned to this man's hometown when I purchased and received it. Some nice solid info on his service was found online.

Nice clean example..

Would he have received a Purple Heart for being gassed? I would imagine yes..

I do believe he would have, and do have a couple more pages of service information that I'll post, but they don't mention anything regarding a purple heart. I believe those weren't issued to WW1 WIAs until around 1932 if I'm not mistaken?
