Hold Until Relieved.... Hold Until Relieved...
« on: February 16, 2016, 07:13:22 PM »
The words that echoed through Major John Howard's mind as his gliders loaded with his men landed mere meters from the Pegasus bridge, capturing the bridge intact. Holding off several counterattacks by German forces in the morning hours of the Normandy Invasion.

This is an exhibit at the Pegasus Bridge Museum in France. I had the opportunity to travel there with my father in 2012.

I took over 3000 pictures so I will post some of them from the trip as time permits..

Like many I assume, I recognised the quote instantly, such an heroic action.  I must make it there one of these days.

Jerry,

It is an incredible museum and to see the bridge and the canal up close is amazing.

Well worth the trip...

On my to do list Smitty.

I have visited quite a few of the sites associated with Market Garden.  Well worth going if you have not been.  I posted some pics of the Airborne memorial at Ginkel heath in a thread on here.
