Soviet Naval flag: end of an era
« on: February 04, 2016, 09:49:44 AM »
A Soviet naval flag from a vessel with guard award status.

Ensign of Honour (“Ship of the Naval Guard”). The naval ensign with the addition of the Scroll of Honour. This title and special ensign were established in 1943 and are awarded as a mark of honour to a warship which has particularly distinguished itself.

And with some other flags to show the size, the RN white ensign is the size of a house door.

Beautiful display of flags and ensigns...

If the flag could only tell us which vessel she flew over...

Very nice Jerry...

Thanks Smitty.  I do like flags!  I have one of which I know its history or at least that it ended up with the last commander of the unit to which it was for and I was able to get it with some uniform items of his after his passing.  And as it is for the RWF it takes pride of place in my collection, though is at this time a bit hard to display since I did my last rearrangement.
