New Photo/Attachment Features
« on: December 30, 2015, 01:05:21 PM »
Hi All,
We've added a new feature that will allow you to post photos inline. What does this mean? Now you have the ability to post a photo, add text above/below the photo, then post another photo, and repeat. Previously, photos only appeared at the bottom of the page.

There is one caveat, however! Photos can only be a maximum of 1100 pixels wide in order for them to be seen properly on your screen. Any larger, and one would have to scroll to the right to see the rest of the image.

I use the following online tool to resize images, which reduces images to 1000 pixels when using the custom option:

http://www.shrinkpictures.com/

Example below, after reducing to 1000 pixels using the above site:

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

You also have the option to upload images so they remain at the bottom of the screen as the previous feature allowed. Basically, upload your photos as you normally would, and submit your post or thread.

I will include a tutorial below on how to use the new feature.

To use the new feature, follow these steps.

Step 1- Expand the Attachment and other options feature at the bottom of screen, as you normally would to upload a photo.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Step 2 - Upload your image. As previously mentioned, best size to use is a maximum of 1000 pixels wide

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Step 3 - Once you've made your image selections, click on "Insert Attachment" to the right of the attachment. You'll want to have your cursor in the area of the Text Box where you want the image to go.

If you need to revise the placement, just highlight the image text in the Text Box, right click your mouse, select "Cut", then click your mouse in the desired placement area, right click your mouse again, and select "Paste"

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

And that's it! As mentioned, if you would prefer not to use this feature, just upload your images as you would previously, and do nothing.

And to give you an example of why it is recommended to keep photos under 1100 pixels, I post the photo below:

The same photo, however, if not inserted into the Text Box. The only drawback is, no text can be posted below this photo.

Bumping this thread for our new members.

If you have any photos that are too big after you have posted them, please contact a moderator, and we can help with re-sizing.

If you run into the issue of photo's being too big every time you post, you do have the option of not using the insert photo option. You can simply upload your photo, and do nothing. It will automatically attach at the bottom of your post.
