Very good MC~130 history.....
« on: July 03, 2015, 12:31:25 PM »
There are probably better books on the MC~130 but not with this value.
http://www.au.af.mil/au/awc/awcgate/au/thigpen.pdf
The new MC~130J is not only for SpecOops but the new HC~130J is on the MC~130 airframe. Both aircraft are "plumbed" for future avionics.
The C~130 itself is a spectacular aircraft building on the legacy of the C~47. In particular is how the Marine KC~130Js have also been converted to the gunship mission but that's another story. If you're a devotee of the "Talon" then this book will be somewhat satisfying.
And.....if you go back to the root URL you can also subscribe to the flagship publication of the Air University.
Constantly seeking post WWII~Vietnam USAF Air Rescue stuff

Wow! There's a ton of reading there Bill!  Coincidentally, I watched "The Green Berets" again just recently which, as you no doubt know, contains great footage of the "Sky-hook" in action!
