I'm a property manager for a bank and frequently visit location in PA and surrounding states. Last summer, I had to inspect a branch in Delaware I'd never visited before.
As I walked into the basement, I discovered a Civil Defense time capsule! Most of the contents had been picked through and the item I had most interest in was long gone (Radiation Kit with the Geiger Counter). However, there were still unopened 12lb boxes/tins of crackers, water storage containers (also doubled as a waste receptacle) and all of the documentation.
The area had to be cleaned out however I made sure my GC saved some items for me. It was a pleasant surprise when 3 large boxes showed up at my door; one of the water drums and 48lbs worth of crackers! I also secured a fallout shelter sign from another site.
They're in storage now, however one day I hope to put together a display of Civil Defense items....I guess I'm kind of obligated to at this point!
