RAF & Commonwealth Nations
« on: March 30, 2014, 11:24:30 AM »
Thought I would make my first posting by showing a couple of photos of some of my RAF and Commonwealth Nations collection.  The display includes items from the RAF, RCAF, Auatralia, PAF and Americans that flew with the RAF/RCAF.  Hope you enjoy the pics.  All comments good or bad are welcome.

Look at all that blue! Great looking collection there. Are these all named uniforms? I would really like to hear some history behind these Airman (are they called Airmen?).

Erik,

Thanks for welcoming me to the Forum.  I will certainly highlight and post here some of the individual uniform items.  Quite a few are named and identified, including a Battle of Britain pilot that flew with 222 Squadron, a 601 Squadron (The "Millionaire's" Sqdrn) pilot that was shot down by Heinz Bar (the 7th leading Luftwaffe Ace), two Polish pilot tunics, one a fighter pilot with 308 Squadron and the other a Bomber Pilot with 301 Squadron.  I need a couple of weeks to get rolling as I am a CPA and I'm prety busy with US tax preparation until after April 15th.  But hope to be an active member after then.  Thanks again.

Jack,
Thanks for the kind words.  These are on display in one of my "war rooms".  I have a 20' x 60' outbuilding on my property  that houses my collection.  It currently is comprised of four rooms, soon to be expanded to five.  One of the rooms is a reproduced AAF Officer's Club, including a fully stocked bar!

Holy-moly Paul! Your potential display space is bigger than my living space! I think I might have to convert the garage!  ;D

20' x 60' is a museum size building! This makes the display even better, it's available year round. :)

Thanks for all the kind words, very much appreciated.  My collection probaly occupies about 2/3 of the outbuilding.  One of the outside end rooms still functions as my "yard" room for all that lawn paraphnalia, lawn tractor, spreader, rakes shovels etc.  But a near future expansion will soon take care of all the yard implements to make way for the far more important militaria!  Again, as I previously mentioned once I get by the April 15th US tax filing deadline I hope to be a more active poster on this Forum.  Thanks again.

P.S.  Carl,  Anytime you want to make the big leap across the pond you are more than welcome at my digs.  Another one of the rooms is a repoped AAF Offier's quarters complete with a bed/cot.  No need for you to waste money on a hotel.  Best part this room is right next to the "O" Club and the bar.   ;)
