Neither Neil , acording to Mathieus Bianchi's book "FlightGear"  there were 4 seperate pieces that made up the British made "flak vest "
Type A vest with armour front and back
Type B  vest is only armoured on the front
Type C The apron has cut away sides to help when seated
Type D which gave more protection to the abdomen

So lm presuming yours will be a Type C Neil or depending how you read the text of the book , type A with a type C apron
 I will contact Mathieu to get a better run down on this

Well, I went to collect the vest this morning. It's a beauty alright. The only markings are indeed the arrow and N next to each other and a small circular red stamp.

Gotcha !!   Neil , please have a look again at my vest  and see if you notice the BIG difference !!  ;)  we could have 2 DIFFERENT EXAMPLES of this vest

Same toggle Neil , mine is just a little worn ,  look at the aprons ! ;) ;)  i have  commented on this in my original post on these FLAK VESTS  :D
