STRANGE PAIR ............of wings

picked these up today from a local antique fair

2018 and STILL WANTED! a pair of RAF 1940 Patt boots and RAF life vest
Always looking for quality condition USAAF stationary,ephemera,equipment and clothing.
Starting to look for the harder to find items e.g. survival kits and items also woukd like to add a complete "Gibson Girl " set up

As I said when you showed me earlier Carl...I've never encountered those "blobs" on the reverse side before. However, the wing pattern looks entirely familiar.

Looks like the whole piece was pressed up against a disc or belt sander...and then silver solder put on the back of the shield?  Can't really tell from here.

I wonder if it was a sweetheart piece, shadowbox, vet done, kids done, or something totally different?

If those are loops attached to the rear of the shield then this might have been an attempt to make a sew on wing. Otherwise it looks like a badge that might have contracted smallpox or the bubonic plague.
