U.S.S. Indianapolis Crewman's short Service
« on: March 26, 2014, 04:47:51 PM »
Fireman 2c Robert A. Reeves could not wait to enlist and join his fellows at War. He was extremely proud to be assigned to the crew of the U.S.S. Indianapolis, and wrote home often of his adventures. As happens to many young men, he was filled with love for his country, and was beginning his life as a young man at sea. Although he left a small footprint in the length of his life, he wore huge shoes to be filled by those who followed him.
And once by God, I was a Marine!
—Actor Lee Marvin, circa, 1967, about serving in WW II

Robin,

Very nice grouping. It is a reminder that some are taken way too soon after enlisting.
