M60 machine gun wrenches to unscrew the lug under the barrel to get out the gas piston. The pliers are to twist wire to secure the small ring to the lug so that it will not vibrate loose when firing.

The tool attached to the wrench is a scraper tool used to scape the inside of the gas piston to loosen the carbon build up.

Well done lads!  Smitty being a Gunner on "The Pig" would definitely know this one - any good M-60 Gunner managed to squirrel away their own wrench & wire twisters!

once again you are correct brother!  pretty hilarious that the army thought it important enough to have a short piece of 550 cord manufactured and packaged for a bore brush LOL!!

I think I still have my M203 bore brush, but I think it has a white shoelace.. Used it in Berlin in the 80's, can't recall if it was 55o cord on there originally or not, but now it is a (or it was a white shoelace)

So, to get this topic jump started & with what little time I do have off, I'd post a few things that I've come across here & see who can guess what it is -

Next up - every good Infantryman would have one of these on their kit:

That would be the 5.56mm magazine speed loader. One is placed in each cloth bandoleer, and many soldiers carry these in their helmet bands to speed the process of loading stripper clips of 5.56 rounds. Simply place the speed loader on the end the magazine, insert the 10 round clip and use either a hard surface such as a table or push the rounds into the magazine and in seconds you have a loaded magazine..

Chris,

I will step back and let the others members have a chance to chime in.. These are rather easy for us being both infantrymen, our tools of the trade so to speak, so I will sit out the next one...

Heck I'm not a grunt and I knew the answer.  I actually have them to charge AR mags and M14 mags.

No sweat brother - I'll see what other "cool" stuff I can find that's not so infantry-centric! LOL!
