« on: September 08, 2014, 04:07:39 PM »
Al Smith was a radio operator/repairman with the First Special Service Forces.
A few of his insignias.I have some paper items from him as well.

Officers arrows were worn by Als wife on her work jacket during the war while working at the Desmoines Ordnance plant.

THe 4th Ranger scroll was added for display/Many Rangers of the 4th were absorbed into the Force

Thanks Smitty

I have a few other of Als things.

Whats intresting in the group is the small muslin Flag. They wore these on the parkas while in Norway. The size is the only ones I have seen from Forcemen.I am lucky enough to have 3 and all from Force vets.

Have a piped cap.Had two but my dad traded one off when I was out of the area for a couple years. One khaki and one wool one the wool one is gone :(

Have two shoulder cords, some V-mail,unit history etc.Al was a real neat guy.Very humble and very proud of the Force. At one time I had over 20 of his association cards. He was a early member of the Force Associstion as well.Dad trade off a few of the association cards as well.I still have a couple as well as a bunch of his rank insignias,a full size CIB,a parka he modified as the fur is gone and the sleeves were shortened. He wasnt a very big guy.

Very nice grouping of original pieces. I bet it was some display you had there. Thanks for sharing.
