LB's dads service history in the British army
« on: August 31, 2014, 10:17:14 AM »
This is my dads service record with the British army , I remember fondly of the stories he told myself and 2 brothers about the things he got up to while in the army .

Unfortunately time and the onset of Alzhiemers has put paid to those memories he had  :'(

And all we have left of his service is his service record and lots of photos ,which ,in time i will post

To say im a proud son , is the very very least i could say

So ill start with his service record , Thank you Dad !!

The mother of all quiffs!......

Elvis would be proud!
My father left me little to be proud of, his service record is all I have, but it tells the story of his life better then he could.

Post away and let us all share along with you! :)

Well here we go, as promised some pics of dad while in service

Mum has affixed these to backing boards  for her own display etc , unfortunately dad isnt able to remember where and when most of these photos were taken ,but by a little bit of deduction work  we think we can date (year)  and place them , well mum will be able to anyway !!

The last image shown  is a photo he sent home to his mum shortly after his joining up !

I had for got all about some of these photographs !  while he was stationed in Kenya , he and some others took it among themselves to climb Mount Kenya !!
Note the "cammo jacket "  being worn by dad ,  looks like it was based on the "Dennison smock " ??

Great images from the family archives Carl...thanks for sharing them with us at what must be a difficult time for the Peplows. As I've said previously, Mr Peplow Snr's quiff is truly a work of art!!  ;)
