US Army Air Corps qualification badge and bars
« on: March 24, 2014, 12:14:32 PM »
Wish I had these in sterling, but the economical badge and bars are okay for me, being that I'm also economical.

I would like to know more about where and when the lead (I think it is lead) badges were made. I know I have a few, but never pursued their origin. Any thoughts?

Erik, please don't quote me, but I'm sure the bagde is theater made and possibly British on top of that. And that it is made out of lead or zinc whatever, as we all know, there was a shortage of everything back then.

@ Robin, "Wait a minute Pat, are you qualified to own that badge??"
I admit, I'm an old fart, but I'm not that old, I wasn't in the Army Air Corps. I did recieve two qualification badges from the army, but from 1972.

Oops! So sorry, I told you the english language is hard for me to comprehend, and I don't think I'm qualified to own anything.

I've got a number of those devices Pat...some are oxidized silver, some almost chrome-like...but no lead. Were they a wartime economy measure perhaps?
