My first WAC uniform
« on: May 26, 2014, 04:24:31 PM »
I'm pretty big into uniform collecting and have been wanting to add a named WAC uniform to my collection for a long time. I have a chance to pick this one up last week and its ID'd to a Detroit woman. I dont really know where to start any research other than the normal spots. I may have Golden Arrow pull the file but I will have to decide. When i searched her name, Vera Tomb*rakos , NARA shows she was an Aviation Cadet. The collar discs are medical. I dont think the uniform has ever been messed with. Any thoughts?

Very nice uniform, it may be that she didn't make it into the air corps or that she became a flight nurse? I hope you find more through NARA.  Scott

Nice uniform and a generally neglected area of collecting. I once had a complete, named AAF flight nurse's uniform which I sold with ease for a respectable amount to raise cash for another purchase...as we do...but I've often regretted letting it go.

I'm told that the tough part of collecting these uniforms is getting the shoes, and handbags. Some guys even collect the undergarments too.....that a surprise!

What a beauty of a jacket...

Having a FULL compliment of women's militaria such as shoes and handbags must cost a small or large fortune!!

The shoes, handbags and undergarments are the most expensive items...
