New Acquisition - not "quite" military, but....
« on: May 12, 2014, 01:50:46 PM »
ONe of my areas of collecting is the medal of govenrment organizations that I have or do work with.  One such organization was the US Border Patrol.

I just acquired this latest medal set (minus the case, which I added).  I think this is the last obsolete medal set from the Border Patrol (before they became part of the Dept of Homeland Security) that I don't have (until now).

This is the Commissioner's Distinguished Career Service Award.  The set includes the large medal, the miniature medal, and the service ribbon.  No lapel pin was authorized for this decoration.

OK, now ya'll can tell me if this is outside of "acceptable" topics.

And yes, I have more "surprises" on the way.  Stay tuned.

I'll get ambitious one day and post all of them.  I have 7 separate medal sets, all complete but one which is missing the lapel pin.

Stay tuned...

I have more cool stuff coming in the mail, and this IS US military stuff.  Wait for it....

The Medal of Heroism is a beauty!

I think so too.  It is a stunning medal when you see it in person.  And it is not very expensive.  Check Ebay for Border Patrol Medals.

I agree, very nice collection of BP medals.

I moved this to other agencies as a test-run. If this section gains interest, I will look at creating a new home for it. Feel free to post any civil service related memorbilia. As long as it can be controlled to its respective sections, I see no reason not to broaden our interest.
