1877-8-9 "Zulu" South Africa to 2nd of the 24th Foot
« on: May 07, 2014, 02:46:33 AM »
Rim named to 1517 Pte. G. DELANEY, 2 / 24th FOOT
I picked this up a few months ago in a trade but just now getting around to looking at it (anybody got a day stretcher for sale!?).  Any research help appreciated as I know nothing at this point about Private Delaney.

The Museum which houses the "Zulu" VCs earned by the 24th of Foot etc., is an hour's drive from where I live. You might want to contact them direct to see what info they can supply?

If that fails to yield information, you can always try the movie!

Medal roll states: "Died on Service" (non-battle).

The Medal, in typical British style, is very nice in every respect. The movie impressed me very much as a child after viewing it, it is a classic, as well as historical.
