Some Pacific theater items including a water cooled M1917 MG. This will be the nucleus of a larger 32nd Division themed exhibit.  Scott

As shown in the earlier posts, our gallery will feature the "overall" 100th anniversary of WWI. Our actual WWI Michigan themed exhibit will feature a mock trench and bunker with even more exhibits. The 08 Maxim will be part of the bunker as will a radioman, and an officers cot. There will also be individual exhibits throughout this area  like yard long pictures, gear displays, etc... Here is the "bunker" area which I just completed today. Outside of this will be an added trench wall with MG nest and sandbags, hopefully completed by this weekend.   Scott.

We are one week from our preview opening and here are some of the improvements, I hope you all like them. This is our WWI 100th anniversary gallery exhibit. It is the first stop on the tour. We have added "barbed wire" barriers to separate the mannequins from the guests, small individual signs are complete and the cabinets are full. So, one room down, 6 more to go!   Scott

This is the WWI trench area and it will feature the stories of Michigan service members in the Great War. Shown here are a signal man in 1912 uniform, on the shelf are an 85th Custer Division soldier (right) and a member of the 26th Engineers. Also a 4th ID helmet and a 3rd corps camo helmet.  On the outer bunker wall we are displaying yard longs from our groupings. Then there is the inner trench wall with another 85th soldier in full gear. We will be adding sandbags and netting this weekend. There is also a German machinegun position attached to the outer wall as we are depicting a captured German position.   Scott

Our display signage has arrived and tomorrow we will make a final push to complete displays and staging. The rest of the week will be adding the signs and tidying up for the opening on Friday for our community. Then the grand opening on Veterans Day weekend! Scott
