Made me chuckle !
« on: October 31, 2015, 05:06:39 AM »
Came across this listing today while doing my daily trawl of EBAY

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/231736706772?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

For those of you which are wondering why it made me chuckle

1.A B9 didnt have wrist adjusters
2. The label is incorrect , that is a civilian type label
3. It looks like a hybrid of the 2 styles of parkas   the B9 and B11

I think i have mentioned this all before somewhere ?

Carl...I bought an almost identical parka from an online vintage clothing store a few years ago...I was sure it was GI issue...but it wasn't! It was of super quality and made to what you might call "military standards" and definitely had some age to it. The label said Type B9 Parka , but after some research I came to the conclusion that it was actually made for the civilian market. When military contracts were cancelled post-war, many manufacturers used up their surplus stocks of materials by manufacturing military "lookalikes" for commercial sale. Your example fits that category. I later re-sold mine on eBay (with an accurate description) for a respectable sum.

Carl,
This parka could be the mysterious Missing Link between WWll parkas, and more recent issues. It is no doubt a mislabeled iconic piece of AAF clothing.......GRAB IT!!  ::)

As has been spoke about before Ian , the contractors of all the clothing must have had lots of surplus when new contracts of upgraded etc  items were procured by the forces  ???
