Many US sellers don't like doing It although there are some who will.

It's sensible to have the package marked as 'old camping tool' or some such to deter customs Interest, also ship first class with no added insurance and a nominal value declared.  You have to assure the seller you will take full responsibility for the Item and take It on the chin should It be seized or fail to arrive.  Taking all the above Into account you can see why many sellers and a lot of buyers are loathe to take the risk.

Whilst It's not Illegal to ship edged weapons It Is actively discouraged and I've heard many horror stories about Items being confiscated or 'going missing' but thus far I've been lucky and I've shipped a lot of knives.  Anything with an attached knuckle duster Is Illegal and will walk If Intercepted.  I hope the above helps a bit.

If you're looking for a good M3 I do have a nice blade marked Imperial somewhere.

Best Regards, Guy.

I used to ship to Europe all the time.

Every now and then now.

I actually asked the question, on another forum, about which countries was it illegal to ship knives to.

No one seamed to know but offered up the shipping "garden tools" route.

Not really interested in doing things that way myself because I've learned the hard way to keep my nose clean.

I do know that sometime ago I was shipping a knife to Belgium (can't really remember) and had it declared as such.

The US post office said I couldn't ship knives to that country.

Not much help but it's all I got.

Had a buddy send me a repro ww1 1918 trench knife years ago, marked as "multi-tool", and it got through to me, VERY illegal here,
I wouldn't do it again,  German Customs are really cracking down on weapons and mostly Nazi paraphernalia coming into the country.
Don't know if combat knifes are allowed to be sent in without some special permit here, probably not worth the hassle.
You can find original M3 trench knifes already here, but they ain't cheap. :(

I agree with the comments above. For the reasons quoted I've always shied away from importing edged weapons even though it's very tempting when you see nice blades offered for sale on the other side of the pond! That said, I've got a decent collection of basic US bayonets and knives which I acquired over here so someone obviously imported them at some time! Carl, you can usually find M3s at collectors' shows like Stoneleigh, Malvern and W&P etc, but of all the US blades, they never come cheap!   :-[
