Royal Marine Commando uniforms
« on: April 26, 2017, 11:14:38 AM »
All museums rely on donations...both financial and in terms of artefacts...and ours is no exception. Thus we were thrilled to recently receive the Royal Marine Commando uniforms illustrated below. To say they tick all of our boxes is an understatement! The donor is a former Royal Marine and also a native of the town. He saw active service in the Indian Ocean on Somali pirate patrol. During this tour of duty he received an injury which ultimately led to him leaving the service.
The donated items comprise of his Dress Blue uniform, complete with white cap, belt and gloves, his lovat green Service Dress with the coveted green beret, a "woolie pullie" with stable belt, several shirts, black oxford low-quarter shoes and assorted insignia.
We now have to decide how best to display these items, something which will be under discussion at our forthcoming committee meetings. It's a nice "problem" to have!

I apologize for the poor quality of the pics...they were just quick snaps taken with my phone-cam!

Very nice grouping and superb history for the exhibit as well! When these items walk through the door it makes all of the volunteer hours worthwhile. Congrats to all at the Barry at War Museum!   Scott
Always looking for 32nd Division items and 13th Armored Division items. Please keep me in mind if you have any.

Thank you Scott! You know from your own first-hand experience how good it is when such things happen!
