WWI Exhibit Yesterday
« on: July 31, 2016, 09:35:17 PM »
The next town east of where I live had a WWI program yesterday. They received a Humanities Council grant and began making large banners of soldiers, sailors, marines, nurses, etc... These have been placed on buildings throughout the town and then they made smaller banners to add to the streetlamp posts as well. They have two separate walking tours where you can learn about specific service members featured on the banners and WWI as a whole. To coincide with the launch I was invited to set up a WWI themed table display in the library for a few hours yesterday. It was quite busy and at closing time I had a chance to take a couple of pictures. It was a great success for them and us. Some community members brought fantastic items to display through Veterans Day in November and many expressed their desires to donate them to me at the end! Here are a couple of pictures of my display. More on the project can be found at www.storiesofchelsea.org.  Scott

My friend Mike Grobbel from Michigan's Own Military and Space Hero's Museum was right across from me. As many of you know they have the largest collection of Medal's of Honor in the world and all are attributed to Michigan. Mike is the President of Michigan's Own Polar Bear Association and he had a great display of ANREF items including the bear used at the reunions.  Scott.
