I've got a Firmin pilots' wing Carl. The hallmark on your example looks very similar...however, you are right to be cautious because there are good fakes / repros out there.

Ian ,Scott ,  yes those fakes are abundant ! I'm about 95% sure these are legitimate . The seller had no other militaria items on there EBay  page ,which in some ways is a good thing ,Dont you think ?

The pin looks as though it has "age" about it , which does give me hope

Carl, I don't know how much help this will be, but sometime ago I did a post about a lot of wings I bought, I think on USMF.  Basically, when I moved into the area where I now live, I visited all of the local antique stores and junk shops etc... Whenever I found pin back wings at the $20.00 - $30.00 or less price, I snatched them up. For a while I had a nice little display of several styles. Then I decided to e-Bay them as individual pieces. Most brought around $35.00 - $50.00, but there were a few that brought much much more with one set fetching $176.00!
Because they had a decent patina and were pin backs, I never cared about the possibility of them being reproductions. The price was right and eventually the yield was phenomenal. I kept them for maybe two years, so it wasn't like there was a huge appreciation factor. Hope this makes you feel good about yours and as I said before, I think they look fine.     Scott

I agree Carl...a pin with a few "kinks" in it is usually a good sign!
