THE REAPER - ADVANCED ACCURACY SOLUTIONS
« on: December 19, 2016, 03:49:04 AM »
Not sure how far along the Aussie's are with trialling this bit of kit.........could be a bit of an issue if you had to go prone at the rush!

Anyone know if this is operational?

Looks like a big problem to me.

I prefer a very sharp spade and a bag full of grenades.

Yes, it would certainly need to be tailored for very specific theatres of operation.........much like its origins I would imagine, either vehicle-borne or helo-mounted.  I pretty sure this would be completely useless in the majority of OBUA situations, jungle, basically anywhere you're manoeuvring through foliage, buildings etc.........imagine trying to go through windows and holes in walls wearing this rig.  My mate in Para Reg said "I've seen it all now, they can't even be arsed to carry their own weapons.  If they told me to wear that I'd tell them to ***k off"!........and multiple other swear words!! ;D

If you require a heavy rifle with a scope, you are too far away from the enemy. In that case, just call for an air strike.

War is just like hunting and fishing. If you don't come home with blood all over you, you weren't successful.

Am I to understand that this device helps control aim??

I only watched one video but really to me I think it boils down to good weapons marksmanship training on the rifle ranges during basic training.

The folks in the videos have probably been firing thousands of rounds on a daily basis with that device strapped to them to get the accuracy seen in the video..

So much for a low profile silhouette. It sticks up like a long whip antenna..

Agree Smitty, tactically flawed on so many levels.  :o

It is great to see our Allies developing systems as well.. I would imagine that this would be used primarily in a CQB (Close Quarters Battle) or room clearing type of environment which actually makes sense...since the video's showed the lads firing from the standing position..

Mmmm, not convinced myself.  I wouldn't want my weapon tethered like this to be honest especially when you need the dexterity and freedom of movement during CQB/FIBUA etc.  Admittedly an asset to be considered when humping around a light support weapon for extended periods, I wonder how/if the Aussies took it further.
