Carl,

That's a fantastic poster-right up your alley too. I've bid on similar posters in the past, but the prices far exceed my budget. A definite keystone to any poster/ aviation collection. Thanks for posting.

Thanks for the kind words !   it does have some water damage along the bottom which does spoil it some what but in other ways ,gives it that original "edge"

I had posted this on another forum ,and there was a   message concerning where it should "live" and how it would be good to have a new  "home" for the vast sum of  $40  as that's whats its worth  ???

$40.00?? Despite the water damage-it's worth quite a bit more than that.

So many of these posters are iconic symbols of the war effort, the younger generation has no idea of what they are missing.

The US Treasury used an artist rendering of the flag raising on Mount Suribachi for their 7th War Loan-I would bet that if you gathered fifty high schoolers less than half could tell you the story of  the picture.
On a related note several years ago I was covering a Veteran's Day ceremony for the paper I worked for. The keynote speaker was a high schooler who had won several school and civic awards, spoke of the flag raisers on Iwo. Throughout her speech she talked of the "five" flag raisers-not the "six". Boy, was I embarrished for her.

Great War Bonds poster, Carl!

If I had the money and wall space, I would love to have a bunch of these.

Speaking of mother loads, I was contacted by a woman on Craigslist a few years ago who was looking to sell some WWI Liberty Bond posters. I asked her to send some photos of what she had and we could start discussing prices.

Well, I was shocked to get a response that included photos of 19 posters, all of which were for the most part in great condition, considering their age. None had been folded and most still contained the Liberty Bond seal from when the posters were shipped. These belonged to her mother and were stored in an attic likely since after the war.

I would never be able to afford all of them but didn't want to throw this woman to the "Wolves". I priced all of them out for her so she could post them on eBay or craigslist and not get burned. After some discussion, she ultimately consigned the posters to me and I sold most of them on USMF. My only stipulation was I be reimbursed my exact shipping costs and could retain one poster for my efforts. She obliged and I made her a nice sum of money.

In any case, below is a screenshot of the hoard. Don't have the patience to resize all of them at the moment, however if others think it would be helpful for reference purposes, I'll gladly do so.

Just goes to show you that these are still untouched examples out there in wait!
