Does anyone know if this is an authentic piece? I think the liner and chin strap are replacements but cannot place the outer insignia.

Yes I think you are quite correct on the liner and chinstrap . Maybe a better photo of the insignia without the helmet net might help others determining the unit  ;)
BUT ! I'm not a collector of British items ,and this is just my opinion

Decent close ups of the exterior paint and the flash are needed, but as the liner appears to have been switched out and the net looks modern, I suspect that the outside has been repainted, though the interior paint looks period and untouched.

Isn't there supposed to be a rubber thing that also is in the crown of the liner?
