yes or no ??  im undecided  , i havnt seen the   "GI" MARK BEFORE , well i dont think i have anyway ???

It's good LB, I have a reference guide for the letter and number makers make. I will fimpne it and give you the info.

Carl...alpha-numeric codes on US insignia were introduced in the 50s....by which time the TO wing was long since obsolete. Here's my Meyer re-strike.

There's evidently a hallmark partly visible under the pin. I assume this is a seller's pic? Does he state what it is in his description? Maybe the Institute of Heraldry "G.I." mark was deliberately added to the re-strike in order to identify it as such whereas you'll note that mine is marked STERLING and has the Meyer logo, as it would have done in WW2.
