Ship Recognition Poster
« on: March 30, 2014, 08:28:29 AM »
I guess I'll be the first to post something in this section. I recently acquired this 1944-dated maritime silhouette poster (measures 19" x 26-1/2") that was produced by the U.S. Maritime Commission. Pretty interesting how it gives specific information for each vessel class. The poster also features the artwork of Elmo White. (who worked as an illustrator for Disney, MGM, and the U.S. Government).

Pretty cool poster. I have seen plenty of ID cards, but not posters. As a Mortarman we did a lot of work with the Fisters who had to be able to ID tanks and such. More memorizing than I wanted to do :o

You have a remarkable collection of ephemera and posters. I'm always amazed at how many of these fragile and essentially "disposable" items have survived to this very day!
