Indeed, Ian! There are bring-backs as well....SS and Heer. I unfortunately don't have deep enough pockets to keep them with the group.

I am however assisting the sellers in finding a buyer. Quick snapshot of those items; not everything is pictured.

Realized I never updated this thread with the final part of the haul. Well, close to final. There are still a few German books Wahler brought back, that I have yet to find the funds for, but this is the last of the US items.

First up, some shoulder sleeve insignia.

Thanks again, LB!

I wound up assisting the sellers in finding a buyer for a large amount of the bring backs. The bring backs, by the way, were found it a plastic grocery bag in the corner of the Wahler's sons garage. Luckily, one of the sellers had the wherewithal to open it before chucking the bag in the trash. These were sold to a very respected dealer. I couldn't previously post photos of everything, as the sale was still pending, however enough time has past that I don't see the harm in sharing.

Below is a photo of the bring-backs, courtesy of that dealer. I wish I had the money to keep them with the group, however I would have had to take out a 2nd mortgage.  :'(

The silverware, destined to be scrap metal before the sellers gave it another once over, bear the coat of arms of Hermann Göring and his 2nd wife, Emmy.

The item that appears to be a plate is actually an egg holder. Hard boiled egg would go in the center, plate would be for the discarded egg shells. Definitely goes with Göring's pompousness...

It is inscribed on the bottom to Ursula Grundtmann, and dated 4 November 1938. Grundtmann was Göring's secretary, who was mysteriously killed. She was also married to Luft Flight Ace, Hans-Gunter Kornatazki, who was killed in action. The date is that of the christening of Göring's daughter, Edda, so likely a party favor to guests who were in attendance.

The other piece of silverware would have held a book; the well to the left being for a pen. Assumption is this would have been used at the christening, and held the guestbook.

Recent article about Eddy, including a photo of her at her christening.

These items have been sitting in a garage for decades, and were seconds away from being thrown in the trash, or melted down for scrap value. Makes you wonder what items elsewhere didn't make it....  :o

Indeed they are! One of the main reasons I stay away from TR. Plethora of fakes, and the authentic items go for crazy prices.
