New additions for 2018
« on: January 30, 2018, 01:43:38 PM »
Nothing earth shattering but 4 nice patches none the less. I really like the AG bordered 41st ID. AG border patches seem like an underappreciated area of collecting, IMO

Hi DS

98th Iroquois is one of my favorites.

And you are correct the AG border(post 1957) are under appreciated , I have a few to show the change over from WWII-1969 period. I like the early 57-60 cut edge SSI.

A focus (if I can call it that, maybe a better term would be distraction) of mine is AG borderer cut edge patches. I have a few, always looking for more.

Hi DS

Below is a hard to come by AG 4th ID.

The reason being it was short lived before they changed over to the silver/white base.

Another point , if you look closely this is made to WWII specs , note the outer border edge and also the weave. Imagine if the base was OD would you call it WWI?

The point being is that the manufacturer who produced these (c1957) had changed little in there set up and used the same tape on the same schiffli machine ,as in WWII but changed OD to AG thread and they used rayon thread which does not glow.

that is a pretty cool variation. I have seen a couple of others done in AG rather than OD, 1st and 90th ID specifically but never a 4th. Something ELSE to look for...

Thanks guys

I like the transition from pre WWII(1935) to merrowed edge c1966. To me, SSI,had that raw edged uncomplicated look and feel.
