Some US Civil Defence Helmets
« on: September 13, 2015, 09:52:06 PM »
I thought I would add a few of the styles of civil defense helmets seen here in the US. For us as collectors, these are like the scourge of the helmet world. With that said, there are some who collect CD stuff and have great collections. These are all from local people and are from our museum here in Grass Lake.

First up is the standard steel marked property of the US GOVT DOD.   Scott

Here is an E.D. Bullard "Hard Boiled" used by the city of Detroit. These come in a variety of colors. MSA also made these.   Scott.

Here is a bit of a different style. Kind of like a lightweight Brodie but I can find no makers marks.   Scott

Interesting helmets. British WW2 CD / ARP / Firewatchers helmets are very collectable too.

I can see that being the case in the U.K. Your helmets saw use and are probably still very much relevant to a large portion of the population. Ours are difficult to even give away! Scott.
