We had a museum event today!
« on: August 05, 2017, 09:52:52 PM »
We hosted our "Summer Campaign" today and it was a moving and incredible experience. We had 7 WWII veterans in attendance including a retired USMC Colonel, a WAVE, a B-17 Navigator, a sailor from the USS Kitkun Bay, a 501st PIR soldier, and a military policeman. It was amazing to see them in a group and it is my sincere hope that the kids that attended will someday realize that today they walked with giants...
During the event we honored these WWII vets, cut a ribbon on a new WWI trench exhibit and WWII Pacific and ETO display, had live music from the era with food and drink, and witnessed a reunion 72 years in the making (see attached news story).
So, here are some pics and as more come in I will try and add them.   Scott

More, the WWII vets are front row receiving flags. The honor guard are from the Veterans Honor Guard of Washtenaw County, most are Vietnam Vets.  Scott

A meeting between a former Dutch Citizen Nicolaas Akemann and Flight Officer Ralph Brown of the 8th USAAF. Brown was part of Operation Manna/Chowhound that Akemann credits with saving his family. This was a moving event, Mr. Brown is 97 and just moved back to Michigan from Florida.

Scott,

I may not be correct but I think your first Museum thread posting was sometime in 2014.  What you have accomplished in three years defies description!  A job well done my friend.
